Manufacturing and installation

A fire door holds back fire only as well as it was installed. The certificate covers the design; on site, the fire resistance rating depends on the anchors, the joint filling and 2–4 mm gaps. That is why we manufacture, install and take responsibility for every opening ourselves — from factory inspection to the signed handover certificate.

Manufacturing

01

To our shop drawings

Products are manufactured to approved sketches and shop drawings (KMD) at partner production sites under contract manufacturing agreements — under DPS technical control.

02

Quality control

Incoming inspection of materials and hardware, checks on frame and leaf geometry, finish quality and completeness. Every product comes with a product data sheet.

03

Marking by opening

Each product carries the opening reference, floor and work zone from the specification. Batches are shipped in installation sequence.

Why installation is everything

THE COST OF A MISTAKE

Expanding foam instead of fire-rated filling — and an EI 60 door is no longer a fire door

Wrong anchors, a racked frame, uneven gaps, the wrong hardware — each of these mistakes strips the door of its tested fire resistance rating. The Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) inspector will see it at acceptance, and a fire will find it in the first few minutes. That is why our installation is carried out only by in-house crews, following the manufacturer's method and the product data sheet.

Leaf-to-frame gaps — an even 2–4 mm around the entire perimeter, so the seals and intumescent strip close the rebate in a fire. The undercut and threshold type follow the product data sheet; for EIS smoke-tight doors — an automatic drop seal or a fixed threshold.

How installation works

  1. Accepting the work front

We check opening readiness against the survey schedule: geometry, finished floor levels, no voids. Accepted by signed certificate.

  2. Setting out

With a laser level we set out the vertical, horizontal and finished floor level. All doors on a floor sit in one plane and at one height.

  3. Frame installation

The frame is set on installation wedges: plumb, level, diagonals, wall plane. We check the reveal angle.

  4. Fixing

Anchors — type, length and spacing as per the product data sheet and wall material. The frame does not distort when tightened.

  5. Filling the installation joint

Only with materials specified in the data sheet and certificate: fire-resistant compounds, mineral wool inserts. We issue a concealed works certificate with photos.

  6. Hanging the leaf

Hinges, anti-lift dog bolts, seals. The leaf is hung by two fitters — no racking, no damage.

  7. Hardware and adjustment

Locks, door closers, door selectors, panic hardware, electromechanical devices. We adjust gaps, closing speed and closing force.

  8. Inspection and handover

The site foreman inspects the opening against a checklist and hands it over to the client by signed certificate, with as-built documentation.

Plane tolerances

A door set “by eye” closes properly for a month. A door set to tolerance does so for its entire service life. We work to the recommended GOST installation requirements and the product data sheet — whichever is stricter.

Measurement methods follow GOST R 58939-2020: laser level, spirit level, plumb line, straightedge, feeler gauges. Values for each specific system are recorded in the shop drawings (KMD) and data sheet and entered in the certificate.

Acoustic doors

Sound passes through any gap. So on acoustic doors, in addition to fire-rated filling of the installation joint, we seal the entire frame perimeter with silicone on both sides — otherwise a 42 dB door performs like a 30 dB one.

Sealing an acoustic door: fixed threshold and automatic drop seal1silicone under threshold2seal in threshold3silicone around the frameFixed threshold1no silicone under the leaf2drop seal lowers3silicone around the frameAutomatic drop sealInstallation joint — fire-rated filling per data sheet; silicone closes acoustic bridges around the perimeter
With a fixed threshold, silicone is also applied under the threshold. With an automatic drop seal it is not: a drop-down seal works under the leaf, and the floor at the opening must be level so it makes contact across the full width.

Adjustment and commissioning

  • Hinges

Adjustment for height, width and compression; an even 2–4 mm gap around the perimeter, the leaf does not rub or sag.

  • Locks and latches

We set the strike plate: the latch engages effortlessly, the bolt enters freely, the key and cylinder turn smoothly.

  • Door closers

Size selected for leaf width and weight; closing and latching speed, back-check. The door closes from any position and latches without slamming.

  • Door selectors

Double doors close in the correct sequence — inactive leaf first, without jamming.

  • Panic hardware

The bar opens the door in one movement, without sticking; we check travel and return.

  • Automatic drop seals

Travel and actuation point: the seal touches the floor across the full width and does not catch when opening.

  • Electromechanical devices

Electric locks, hold-open devices and sensors — tested with the access control system and fire alarm: on a “Fire” signal the doors release and close.

  • Fixings check

Re-tightening of anchors and screws on hinges, hardware and closers. Repeat check at project handover.

What an installer must know

An installer of fire-rated and acoustic doors is not just a “door fitter”. It is a specialist at the intersection of construction, fire safety, mechanics and low-voltage systems. We employ only people who master all of these disciplines.

  • Reading drawings

Shop drawings (KMD), sketches, specifications and door schedules, manufacturer's installation diagrams.

  • Setting out and measuring

Laser levels, optical levels, digital levels and protractors, distance meters.

  • Substrates and fixings

Concrete, brick, aerated concrete, plasterboard — anchor selection, embedment depth, opening reinforcement.

  • Fire safety

EI, EIW and EIS classes; what may and may not be changed in a tested assembly.

  • Fire-resistant materials

Installation joint fillers, intumescent strips, fire-rated sealants.

  • Acoustics

Perimeter sealing, thresholds, seals — how not to lose the rated decibels.

  • Hardware

Locks, door closers, door selectors, panic hardware, automatic drop seals — installation and adjustment.

  • Electromechanical devices

Electric locks, hold-open devices, sensors; basic work with low-voltage connections.

  • Glass

Glazed leaves and partitions: vacuum lifters, glass installation and fixing.

  • Rigging

Slinging, moving and lifting heavy and large-format assemblies.

  • Health and safety

Work at height, electrical safety, PPE, work permits.

  • Documentation

Photo records, concealed works certificates, acceptance checklists for every opening.

Training and certification

  1. Mentored on-the-job training

A new installer works alongside an experienced foreman on live projects.

  2. Product training

Installation methods from the manufacturers of the systems and hardware — for every system we install.

  3. Permits and certificates

Occupational safety, work at height, electrical safety, rigging — before going on site.

  4. Sign-off by the foreman

Independent installation only after the foreman has checked the quality of several openings.

Permits and safety

  • Health and safety

Occupational safety training and testing, induction and task-specific briefings on site.

  • Work at height

Work-at-height permits and training, access equipment with inspection certificates.

  • Electrical safety

Electrical safety qualification for power tool use; tools in good, tested condition.

  • Riggers

Every installer holds a rigger's certificate — the load is handled by the same crew that installs it.

  • PPE

Hard hats, safety footwear, cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses, high-visibility vests — for everyone on site.

  • Medical checks

Periodic medical examinations, with clearance for work based on the results.

Handover documents

  • Concealed works inspection certificates — fixing and installation joint filling, with photos
  • Acceptance certificates for installed openings by specification reference
  • Product data sheets, certificates of conformity, test reports
  • Hardware adjustment and closing test records
  • As-built opening layout drawings
  • Operating instructions and warranty terms
